Summer Booking % Counter (% confirmed, May to October): Summer 2008: 80% Summer 2009: 35%
Monday April 28, 2008: New Gallery.
Gallery Number Nine is online. Expect to see more wedding related content in Kim's Blog starting next week too as the wedding season officially gets underway.
Monday March 24, 2008: New Gallery.
A new Gallery, Number Eight, is online. This gallery features favorite shots from the first half of the 2007 season. More in the coming weeks.
Friday January 25, 2008: Updated Gallery for Kim and other news.
Updates have been made to Kim's Gallery containing some favorite shots from weddings that we covered in early 2007. More updates are on the way for the other galleries.
We've also just passed the 70% mark for confirmed bookings for the 2008 Summer Season. Although all Saturday dates from June to September are already spoken for, there are still some Friday dates available near the start and end of the season, as well as two choice dates in July - Friday the 11th and Friday the 25th.
Finally, although it's the slow season for weddings, Kim has been posting a photo a day to her blog for several months now - it's a great place to check out some beautiful Newfoundland scenes as well as the occasional sprinkling of wedding related news.
Friday September 14, 2007: New Fine Art Presentation Book Offerings and DVD Video Album.
With our desire to constantly evolve our services, we again have two announcements...
Effective immediately, we are offering a new 7" Fine Art Presentation Book, as well as additional savings on both the 10" and 7" book when more than one copy is purchased. The new smaller size is a perfect gift for parents or grandparents and, when purchased as a additional copy book, can be had for as little as $335.00 (plus tax and shipping).
We're proud to say that pricing on all of our Fine Art Presentation Books remains very competitive, being the lowest in Newfoundland for a product of this quality, and among the lowest in the industry for a custom designed coffee table book. We're delighted that our Fine Art Presentation Book has caught on this year and hope our new 7" offering and special pricing on additional copies will be as successful.
Full detail on these new options are now available on our Pricing page. More info on the Fine Art Presentation Book is also available.
Another item that we started to offer this year in Packages B and C is the DVD Video Album.

These discs have become very popular and we've heard stories of how they are often sent around by the couple to family and friends. While we always provide multiple copies to the couple for this purpose, we thought it'd be fun to put one online for everyone to see. This one is from a wedding we shot for Stephanie and Trevor a few weeks ago. Enjoy!

Tuesday August 14, 2007: Multiple Announcements.
We have two announcements today...
We are excited and proud to welcome a new photographer to NewfoundlandWedding.com. We've been looking to expand our team for some time and are very happy to say that we've finally found a person with the perfect combination of enthusiasm and skill to join us.
Eileen St. John has been working professionally as a wedding and portrait photographer for several years. As some of our clients already know, she began to photograph weddings with us earlier this season. Find out more about her over on our Photographer Bio Page and keep an eye out for further updates to her Photo Gallery.
Also, we've just unveiled new 2008 / 2009 pricing and have officially started taking bookings for the 2009 summer season. We've been getting quite a few inquiries over the last several weeks, and we'd like to specifically thank those who have contacted us and agreed to wait patiently for this announcement.
For any client that has already secured our services with a deposit - don't worry. Please see FAQ item 4.08 for info on our price change policy.
Tuesday August 7, 2007: New Online Photo Sites.
We have just linked to several new 2007 weddings from our Clients page.
Currently, there are more than 4000 images online from our 2007 coverages that we invite potential clients to view as samples of our work.
For regular visitors to Kim's Blog, many of these sites may have been previous viewed.
Thursday July 5, 2007: Announcing Online Ordering of Prints.
We are excited and proud to announce that, effective immediately, we will be offering online ordering of prints for all weddings in the 2007 season.
We've teamed up with LifePics, a US based company, as well as lab in Ontario to offer this service. Ordering is now easier and faster - and our print pricing, which is already among the lowest in the industry, remains the same.
This service allows the visitor to select, crop and order all print sizes directly from the lab and have them shipped directly to their home. Delivery time is less than two weeks for locations within Canada, and photos are available for up to six months after the wedding date. Family and friends can also login to place orders (major credit cards accepted) and it works seamlessly with the couple's existing Purchase Credit.
Complete detail on online ordering has been included in our FAQ in the After the Wedding section.
A couple of things worth noting:
Shipping charges apply to all orders, and are the responsibility of the customer. This is actually unchanged from our previous policy where postage was also the responsibility of the customer. However, in some past situations, we were able to hand deliver print orders within the city of St. John's - that option is no longer available.
Also, while this lab has been in business for over 30 years, the process of ordering wedding prints via the Internet is a relatively new one. We have been identifying bugs and usability issues for some time while testing this service, and have been actively working with the developers to resolve problems. If you have any issues, please let us know.
Currently, we are adding weddings that we've covered so far this season - clients whose wedding date was prior to June will receive login info via email within a few days.
We're happy to also offer this service to past clients and are in the process of uploading select sessions from last season. If we covered your wedding in the past and you'd like to be added, just let us know.
Wednesday June 20, 2007: Bundle Offer on Book and Digital Negatives Expiring Soon.
Our Special Bundle Offer on the Fine Art Presentation Book when combined with Digital Negatives will be expiring in ten days on June 30, 2007.
Anyone considering the bundle is encouraged to contact us to indicate they want this special pricing. Note that, because we don't require clients to commit to any particular set of options until one month before the date, anyone requesting it before June 30 will have the option, but they can also decline. So even if you're just thinking about it, let us know now!
We are happy to also extend this offer to any past clients that have not yet purchased these options.
Also, as can be seen with the ticker (above), we've just passed the 1/3 mark for confirmed bookings for the 2008 Wedding Season.
Monday June 18, 2007: New Sites and Feedback Page.
The wedding season is now officially underway.
There's been a few new Online Photo Sites uploaded in the last few days. Although they haven't yet made it to the Clients page here as yet, links have been posted from Kim's Blog.
Also, we've added a Feedback page where we'll be posting the occasional customer comment. We've been thinking about this for some time, but there was one in particularly from a few days ago that caught our attention. Thanks guys!
Monday May 28, 2007: Cancellation for September 15, 2007.
We've just had another cancellation confirmed. This time it's for a Saturday - September 15, 2007. The 2007 counter (above) actually stays the same, as we've booked a few other dates just recently.
Thursday May 10, 2007: Cancellation for August 31, 2007.
We've just had a cancellation for a prime Summer 2007 date - specifically Friday August 31.
This cancellation has been confirmed in writing, so the date is now officially up-for-grabs.
Get in touch via our contact page if you'd like to book.
Sunday Mar 25 2007: Featured Wedding for 2006.
We had a great time and a successful year in 2006. As we looked back over the work, it was hard to pick just one wedding to highlight.
Weddings are funny in that every one is different - you never know what to expect going in. One thing was consistent throughout though - when the couple was relaxed and had fun, the pictures came out fantastic. Our main function as photojournalsitc photographers is to document the day as it naturally unfolds, so this becomes the single most important thing in producing good work.
Our featured wedding from 2006 is a perfect example of this.

Sunday Mar 18 2007: New Gallery.
Another new gallery.
Link: Gallery Seven.
With this addition, the galleries now represent highlights from all of our work to date.
To keep things interesting around here, we're currently trying to pick a single wedding to highlight from last year. During the week, we'll be debating this selection amongst ourselves.
It's going to be a very hard decision, so we'll narrow it down by picking only from coverages that have not been previously put online.
We'll have a client web site online here next Sunday.
Sunday Mar 11 2007: New Gallery.
A new gallery has been added.
Link: Gallery Eight.
As stated last week, this is the first of two all new galleries. Some of the previous content has been moved around a little and condensed into one through six. The next new one, number seven, will be online a week from today.
See the post below for more info.
Sunday Mar 4 2007: New Gallery.
Gallery Ten has been added.
This is the final gallery in which regular visitors may see content that has been previous put online. Up to this point, some photos may have been available in an Online Photo Site, in Kim or Jennifer's own galleries, or in Kim's Blog.
That's about to change, as we've recently completed a review of all of our work to date, so next Sunday we'll be putting a second new gallery online. That one will have all new content, as will a third new gallery that will be online on the following Sunday. There will only be ten galleries online at a time however - and as each new one is added, an old one will disappear.
Tuesday Jan 30 2007: New Gallery.
A new gallery, Number Nine, has been added. Another one is being worked on, due in a few weeks.
Regular visitors will notice that some of the pictures from this new gallery are also in Kim and Jennifer's own gallery pages. This should be a temporary occurrence, as the galleries specific to each photographer will be periodically updated with new content (whereas "Gallery" pages are relatively static).
Sunday Jan 14 2007: Booking Counter and New Galleries Coming Soon.
We've added a Booking Percentage Counter that will stay at the top of this News page.
Currently, we're getting inquiries that are split approximately 50 / 50 for 2007 / 2008 dates. Because we're now unable to accommodate most 2007 inquiries (which is also true for many other St. John's wedding vendors), we'll be maintaining this counter as a kind of public service (if you will) for brides that are trying to convince their grooms that time for planning is indeed running out. :) More info will be in Kim's Blog.
Also, some new Galleries will be online soon.
Saturday Jan 6 2007: Special Bundle Offer on Book and Digital Negatives.
To introduce our new Fine Art Presentation Book we're offering a special bundled price when combined with Digital Negatives.
Please see the Fine Art Presentation Book page for more info.
Friday Jan 5 2007: New Purchase Credit Packages.
There have been some changes on the Pricing page.
As of January 1, we've changed all packages to include a Purchase Credit. This is offered instead of the predetermined assortment of Album / Proofs and Enlargement Prints as was included in all packages before.
A Purchase Credit can be used to buy any item in our Price List. This gives the client maximum flexibility in purchasing options after the wedding. These Credits will also allow the client to build their own custom package price if so desired, as Purchase Credit amounts can be increased or decreased (to be specified upon booking or detail submittal).
This new pricing offers the same dollar amount that was offered before, but clients now have the added flexibility of using the Purchase Credit for other options like Digital Negatives or our new Fine Art Presentation Book. In the past, clients were only able to exchange package prints for other print sizes.
As our range of options continues to expand, we are happy to also extend this offer to past clients.
Tuesday Dec 12 2006: WPJA Members.
I'm excited and proud to announce that both Jennifer and myself have been accepted as members of the Wedding Photojournalist Association.
The WPJA is an international organization of photographers that accepts new members based solely on review of their work. They have very specific criteria for admittal, and their work, along with the work of their members, has essentially defined the term "wedding photojournalism".
Both Jennifer and myself had each submitted a portfolio of our work within the last few weeks and we are now delighted to be associated with this group. Among their members are some of the best wedding photographers in the world - right now there are about 60 WPJA members across Canada and we are currently the only members east of Quebec.

Monday Nov 27 2006: New FAQ items and feedback.
Some new items concerning Enlargement Package Orders have been added to the FAQ in the "After the Wedding" section.
Q. How long do they take? How will I receive them / pay for them?
Q. Can my family and friends order enlargements?
Also, we've had some good feedback on our changes (below). For details, please see the Blog.
Wednesday Nov 15 2006: Change to services.
We have an exciting announcement for new clients.
For all new bookings in our 2007 / 2008 schedule we will be modifying our services to offer an exclusively candid style of shooting. As the "Documentary Event Photography" phrase in our logo suggests, we will be offering minimal posed or traditional shots, and instead will be concentrating on coverage that captures that day as it naturally unfolds.
The following FAQ items have been modified to reflect this:
Q. What style of photography do you consider to be your speciality?
Q. How does the wedding day usually play out in your experience?
Q. Can I give you a Pose List before my wedding day?
For more detail on this topic, please also see my Blog.

Sunday Oct 22 2006: Updates.
There have been a few changes to the site - I guess you'd call it "end-of-season" type stuff. We've added a Gallery containing a few of my own favorite shots from the last few weddings - one for Jennifer will follow. We've also added a few bits and pieces to the FAQ and streamlined the Client Photo Sites to remove older content and keep things fresh.

Monday Oct 16 2006: Photo Site.
A new Photo Site has just gone online.
Link: Stride / Maboussou October 2006.
There are currently 21 Photo Sites publicly available, encompassing over 8000 unique photos. We feel that review of complete coverage of photography from a wedding is a very important part of selecting a wedding photographer, and we are proud to make these available to new visitors, as well as thankful to our past clients in allowing us to do so.

Tuesday Sept 19 2006: News - Quote, Unquote.
I don't know how much "news" there will be here, so I'll occasionally post a link to my own blog where there is always some midly amusing little drama playing out - I tend to vent from time-to-time which keeps it interesting I guess. There is also detail on what we've got coming up and semi-regular postings of photos from shoots that Jennifer and I do.

Tuesday Sept 5 2006: New Design.
We've been working on the new design (on and off) for awhile. The site has a few new things on the go...
1. Smaller graphics, faster loading.
2. Improved FAQ layout.
3. More galleries.
4. This News section!
5. New pricing.
6. Other very boring but very important stuff.
There are now over 5000 unique images online from our wedding photography coverage... and counting.
Tuesday Sept 5 2006: Tooting The Horn.
We like these quotes so much that we couldn't leave them behind with the old site. All comments were unsolicited. Many of the sessions that these visitors are talking about are linked from the Clients page.
