Answers.
Q 5.01. How long after the wedding do I have to wait before my proofs are ready? Do I keep the proofs?
A. Proofs are ready three weeks after the wedding date, unless otherwise specified.
The proofs are yours to keep - you select from those pictures for your package enlargements.
Q 5.02. After my printed proofs are delivered, how do I pick additional / enlargement prints? How long do I have to pick my prints?
A. After your printed proofs are delivered, you will be issued and Event Code on your invoice so that prints can be ordered online at http://kimgoodyear.lifepics.com/. The Event Code is unique to your wedding and can be used to view and order any proof image from your wedding day. Please note that, if you've purchased the Bonus Disc, additional images from these discs are not available online.
We accept payment for online prints through Credit Card. All transactions are secured via industry standard SSL encryption.
You can order enlargement prints for up to six months after your wedding date. After this time, Online Viewing and Ordering will no longer be available. The only option available in our price list after this time is Digital Negatives & Usage Rights.
Q 5.03. Can I redeem my Purchase Credit when ordering online?
A. Yes. Upon receiving your proofs, the dollar amount remaining in your Purchase Credit will be noted on your invoice. You will also notice a Coupon Code - you can enter this code on the Payment Screen near the end of the ordering process to receive your discount.
Note that Coupon Codes can be used one time only and the entire Purchase Credit amount must be redeemed on one order. If you choose to use your Coupon Code on an order where the print total is less than the Purchase Credit amount, you'll forfeit the difference. If your total for prints is greater than your Purchase Credit amount, the difference can be charged to your credit card.
Also note that when ordering online with a Purchase Credit / Coupon Code, you are responsible for the additional shipping charge.
Unused Coupon Codes as well as all Online Viewing and Ordering functions expire six months after your wedding date.
Q 5.04. After my enlargement package prints are ordered, how long does it take to have them developed? How do I get them? Can I pick them up?
A. After placing your order, it is generally processed within five business days. All prints are then packaged carefully and sent via Canada Post Expedited service.
For destinations within Canada, delivery time is generally two to three weeks (from the time that your order is placed until they arrive at your door).
All re-print / enlargement orders are printed and shipped from a lab in Ontario - sorry, local pickup or drop off within St. John's is not an option.
Q 5.05. I'd like to order a photo from my bonus disc that is not online. What should I do?
A. Please send us your request along with the image number (ex. IMG_1234-kg). We'll add the requested photos to your Event Ordering Site, usually within 2 days.
Please note: You must specify the full file name for all images - including the "kg1" extension for example. If the full image file name is not specified, we regret that we cannot fulfill these requests.
Q 5.06. Can my family and friends order pictures online?
A. Yes. Feel free to send the site address and Event Code to family and friends. If so desired, you can also limit access to your site by requesting a special Event Code that you keep private. This will prevent others from accessing your photos and ordering online.
Q 5.07. I bought an enlargement of one of my wedding photos, but part of the picture is cut off. The 4x6 proof looks fine. What happened? How do I get the full photo?
A. The only way to get a 5x7, 8x10 or 11x14 enlargement from a 4x6 proof is for part of the picture to be cut off.
This is due to the height / width ratio of the various print sizes. For example, a 4x6 has a ratio of 1 to 1.5 (meaning it's 50% longer one way than it is the other). An 8x10 though is only 1 to 1.25 (it's just 25% longer than the shorter side).
We have written an article entitled Photo Ratios and LifePics Ordering that gives more detail on this subject.
Q 5.08. Can I select a different picture for each of my enlargement package prints?
A. Yes, each enlargement you select can be a unique picture (example, each 8x10 can be a different photograph). Also note that, in cases where one picture size is substituted for another (if one 8x10 is replaced by two 5x7, for example) each one of those pictures can be unique as well.
Q 5.09. Are my proofs going to be marked in any way, or will they be printed on paper that is designed to fade over time?
A. No, proof images are not watermarked and are not designed to intentionally fade or degrade in any way.
Q 5.10. Will my pictures come in an album?
A. Yes, if you've purchased this option, the initial delivery of 4x6 printed proofs come in an album.
For the 2008 season, we are offering a contemporary black ring-style album that holds up to 400 4x6 photos. They offer a nice alternative to traditional wedding photography albums and provide the perfect complement to our modern style photography. All albums have archival quality photo safe pages that are free of acidic chemicals.
Please note that we also offer custom designed Fine Art photography books (aka Coffe Table books) that beautifully illustrate the story of your day. Please see our Pricing page for more info.
Q 5.11. Do you do your own printing?
A. No. Our photographs are developed at a professional lab. We have each worked at labs or studios in the past and know what to look for in developing in terms of quality verses price.
Q 5.12. Does the Digital Negative Disc that comes with Usage Rights have high quality images?
A. Yes. If you've purchased this option, each picture is the exact, edited, full resolution image that we used to print your proofs. Images can be read and printed at a photo lab or on a home computer. These are standard JPEG image files written to disc. Discs are not set to expire or become unusable in any way, so your ability to use them is limited only by the life expectancy of the media itself (make a backup copy!).
Note that, as of this writing, Digital Negatives are most often delivered on a DVD data disc (as opposed to multiple Compact Discs), so you'll need a newer, compatible DVD drive to view your files. Also note that, because the images are large full resolution files, some older computers may have trouble viewing them.
For those who want to know, we shoot in Camera RAW format and save our work in JPEG format once only. As of this writing we use several models of Canon DSLR cameras during the wedding day.
Q 5.13. How long does it take to get a Fine Art Presentation Book (what is the turnaround time)?
A. Please allow 10 to 12 weeks for design, printing and shipping.
Q 5.14. Can I change / specify how a particular photo is printed (crop ratio)? Can I change the assortment of images that are included in a Photo Collage?
A. Generally, no. If there is more than one option for any particular requested photo that was taken on your wedding day, we will have included it with your initial delivery of proofs.
Photo Collages are created at the discretion of the photographer using the best combination of photos for the collage.
These limitations are due to dimensional ratios of various size images (for example 4x6 = 1 to 1.5 ratio vs 8x10 = 1 to 1.25 ratio) and the resolution and framing of the original digital image file.
Q 5.15. Can I select the music for my DVD Video Album? Can you use a particular song that I provide?
A. No, sorry, we cannot. In almost all cases, it is illegal for us to incorporate music that you provide into your DVD. According to copyright law, music that is purchased by the consumer for personal use can be used for just that - personal use. Even though the music was purchased, the consumer does not hold copyright.
It is illegal to use material (in this case, music to accompany video) on which someone holds copyright without specific permission from that copyright holder. The copyright holder can generally be any person(s) that wrote, performed, or released (sold) the music. Often, a work may be copyrighted by all three groups. More info on this topic is available in the article entitled My Voice, My Choice: Some Basic Copyright Caveats. This article has several usage examples and is written with limited use of intricate legal terminology.
We have obtained permission to use certain music through license purchase. As such, the music included on your DVD is selected at our discretion.
